Coeur d'Alene Symphony History

About Us
Our 2000-2001 Concert Season marked the inauguration of the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra under this new name. Begun in 1981, the Orchestra has grown and flourished as few community orchestras ever do.

The Orchestra averages between 65 and 72 members, depending upon musicians needed for the music. Many of the musicians travel up to 50 miles to create the best musical entertainment for the people of this region. It is because of the commitment and talents of our musicians, faithful support from our subscribers, patrons, generous community leaders, and our enthusiastic audience that we are where we are today. Together we look forward to an even brighter future.

Each year we provide music scholarships for up to four college music students, produce a Family Concert that provides educational materials and is free to youth under 18 years of age, expand our music library, and fund capital acquisitions for the orchestra, such as our Lyon and Healy harp. This year, we are the recipient of a grant from the Idaho Community Foundation to support the Family Concert.

The Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra is a tax-exempt non-profit corporation. Season subscribers are members of the corporation, and are invited to an Annual Meeting in the form of a reception following the May concert. Other receptions and social events for patrons and supporters are held during the year, subject to availability of funds.
