Ali King is a 17-year-old soprano who studies
with Seth Riggs in Los Angeles and is coached by Rakefet Hak
at UCLA. Ali began college in Portland at age 13 and received
an associates degree at the age of 16. Ali has received numerous
awards in classical festivals and competitions with her most
recent awards coming from the Los Angeles Opera Reading Room
and the Palm Springs Opera Guild for her exceptional talent
as a young classical singer. In 2006 Ali debuted with members
of the Oregon Symphony in their Young Artist Concerto Competition
and sang “Quando mein vo” by Puccini. Ali attended
the San Francisco Opera Arts training program to study with
Blanche Thebom at the age of 12. That same year she sang with
Burt Bacharach in the Bank of Americas Pop concert. At age
14 she participated in the Astoria Music Festival summer opera
program. Her vocal credits also include performances in a
variety of venues; Community theater productions with leading
roles in Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, and Brundibar in Portland,
OR, radio spots, voiceovers, and the animated voice of Pfaff
for Perrine Productions. In 2005 she appeared with the Portland
Opera’s women chorus in Street Scene. Ali plays piano,
and has written music since the age of 11. She crosses genres,
writing music in a contemporary style, and is a member of
West Coast Songwriters Association. Currently she is working
on a fully orchestrated classical piece that she hopes to
perform with a full orchestra. As a commercial singer, she
has been an invited guest for two years with the New York
Music Festival, performed at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas,
and has worked on several projects producing her own material.
Ali hopes to continue her education in voice and composition
in the fall at a music conservatory.
